But needs go beyond symptom control: many also look for skincare suited to daily use and approaches that take the balance of the skin microbiome into account. It is in this perspective that WundrME™ was developed.

When the clinic isn't enough

The story behind WundrME™

For many years, Dr Natalia Kirsten cared for hospital patients living with inflammatory skin conditions. Today, dermatology has modern, effective therapies, particularly for severe forms.

However, among many patients with mild to moderate eczema, one request came up again and again: better-tolerated alternatives to cortisone, suitable for daily use, and above all an approach that does not stop at temporarily soothing symptoms, but looks at the skin's underlying imbalance.

That clinical reality convinced her that the way we approach skin inflammation needed rethinking: going beyond immediate relief to act on the fundamental mechanisms behind a fragile skin barrier and microbiome.

She then devoted five years of research to developing a technology that preserves the benefits of probiotics while making them more stable, safer and better suited to sensitive skin. This is how WundrME™ was born: a new generation of paraprobiotic dermo-cosmetic care, grounded in clinical experience and scientific research.

The clinical realisation.

After years of dealing with chronic ulcers and resistant infections in a German hospital, Natalia launches a research project on alternatives to antibiotics with Ron, a health economist based in the United States.

2020

The probiotic lead

Partnership with laboratories in England. First tests with live probiotics against skin pathogens. The results are promising — but problems emerge.

2021

The turning point

Analysis of probiotic consumption data across 60 countries: live probiotics can trigger antibiotic resistance. On top of that, regulatory costs for a medical product would reach €8–12M. Dead end.

2022

The decisive pivot

Natalia develops a method to inactivate probiotics while keeping their structure intact — under the electron microscope, a live cell is indistinguishable from a treated one. More effective than live cultures, without the risks.

2023

A first-of-its-kind formula

Testing confirms the stability of the process and its action on skin microbiome balance. No equivalent technology exists on the market today.

2024

EU regulatory approval

Testing has given us the basis to protect our formula and to qualify it as a dermo-cosmetic (health and beauty).

2025

Launch in France and the United Kingdom

Manufactured in Germany to pharmaceutical standards. The first-of-its-kind paraprobiotic cream that rebalances the microbiome is sold through the WundrME™ e-commerce platform.

Natalia Kirsten is not an influencer launching a cosmetics brand. She is a dermatologist and scientist, from a family of doctors, who ran a hospital department in Germany and supervised clinical studies for years before developing WundrME™.
